WE FOUND FRANKIE'S GUITAR !

Dear All,

Please be informed that after some days of search we have finally found Frankie's guitar.

Some days ago Frankie announced that he was sad due to the loss of his guitar. Then we advised all kids to look for his guitar and inform any teacher in case the guitar was seen.

On Friday 09th October during Cérvols forest walk, the guitar was spotted next to a tree. Cérvols were really happy and Frankie too. Frankie was so excited that he performed a concert with his guitar for Esquirols and Formigues too.

WE LIKE TO ROCK !

Dear friends,

As you may know we love music.

With Cérvols we have divided the class in 2 groups, one is called THE ROLLING STONES  and the other the BEATLES, same groups as last year.

Esquirols are divided in QUEENS and THE RAMONES and Formigues will have to wait to Rock and Roll until they become ESQUIROLS. This year our youngest pupils are divided in Dragons and Jackies in order to practice the song Puff the Magic Dragon.

Each group is identified with an iconic song to be sang every time we get together. The Beatles group sings Yellow Submarine and Rolling stones sings I can't get no satisfaction.

We truly believe in the power of music to teach English. With this simple exercise to pretend that we are the Rock band we are trying to copy, we develop abilities such as effort, attention, team work, practice and improve, English pronunciation, instruments vocabulary guitar, drums, bass, microphone... and for sure in front of all of these abilities comes FUN, we really have a good time :-)

Please find photo above of the Beatles proudly playing Yellow Submarine.

From right to left: MICROPHONE: made of plasticine, BASS: green stick but sounds like a real bass through the kids lips :-) , GUITAR:  badminton racket it also sounds like a guitar , DRUMS: Blue foam box with two drum sticks

So far so good :-)

Dear friends,

We already have spent  two weeks since school started and we are very happy about the kids happiness and progress.

Formigues have met  Frankie the frog Dizzy the duck, Spot the ladybird and Tex the turtle. Kindly note that Formigues are learning their song and their colours, how do they talk and how do they move. These characters have been a little bit shy and sad at the beginning, so they have needed a big cheer and a big applause from our  little pupils in order to start singing the song as they usually do:  really happy :-)

Esquirols and Cérvols have also reunited with the animal characters and it's been great to see how happy and excited they have shown themselves to be together again.

This year we have introduced new routines and duties for Esquirols and Cérvols...

We proudly introduce to you the SUPERASSISTANT !!

Once a week,  by a quick random game and song, we select our Super Assistant. That boy or girl proudly wears the SuperAssistant badge and will be in charge of helping  and assisting  the teacher and also about checking out the weather, day of the week and season of the year.

As mentioned in previous post we would like to share with you the rule song that we sing along every morning, we hope you like it:

Shopping with Formigues

After watching a video where Frankie, Dizzy, Spot and Tex go shopping in a clothes shop, with Formigues we have been practising this new vocabulary:  T-shirt, hat, sandals,  by setting up a little shop and playing the role of customers.

BINGO !

With Formigues, Esquirols and Cérvols we are having some fun playing BINGO. Pupils have to place their chips in the right place as teacher is calling out vocabulary previously worked at classroom.

Since we are playing in couples we are promoting team work, one pupil holds the BINGO card and point to the correct image, in order to advise  his team mate where to place the chips, once we finish the game, pupils have to speak out the vocabulary in their BINGO cards to to check if it's correct. Then we change roles for the next BINGO round.

I'm hungry

With Esquirols and Formigues we are working on the topic hungry/thirsty.

Thanks to the book material we have prepared our own sandwiches with Esquirols, bread, cheese, salad, chicken...
